Another of Bruce Jackson's discoveries, Eugene Rhodes worked as a cook in Indianapolis before getting into trouble. An African-American singer in the "smooth blues" tradition which he favored, he sings some original songs and others from the famous blues singers he met as a younger man, musicians such as Blind Lemon and Buddy Moss. Part of the value of this recording is to be found in Rhodes' conversation.
